When do the NEW Allergen Food Labelling Regulations come into effect in NZ?

Food businesses have until 25 February 2024 to update their labels and train staff so the information they provide customers meets the new allergens in food labelling regulations.

In February 2021, the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code was amended for the labelling of allergens in food.

Food labels must inform consumers about the risks some ingredients may have to particular groups of people.

Visit the Ministry of Primary Industries website for easy-to-follow information on the new New Zealand Food Labelling Regulations.
